Has anyone any idea what these would have ended up as ? I assume they are unfinished case & they measure 9.3" long & 2.196" base with an external mouth diameter of 1.878" . The threaded primer hole is 0.56" . Thanks !
Why do you think these are draw stages? The thread would have been cut only after the case had it's final geometry and the complete pocket for the priming screw would have been stepped.
Are they parallel or tapered? I fell into a trap with some rollers from a paper factory. Had been cut off just after the dent which made it around 125mm long with a dia of 65mm. Had me stumped until I found out where the guy I got it from worked! The rotton sod wouldn't take it back again either!
Thanks for everyone's good suggestions , I appreciate them . I just had a shell expert visit me & he recognised them straight away . They are 40mm Bofors cases that have been cut down & had their bases turned off in a lathe ! I've no idea why , perhaps to make some trench art or similar.
