Hi Tony
I have seen these before - many years ago.
They are trip or disturbance activated.
I am sure there is a bit missing which should be a threaded tube that holds a pre loaded flash/ill/bang in place.

It's German made called Signal Illuminating and Sound DM57 with fuze DM1474.
Will post a photo and a drawing tomorrow, have to go home now.

Hi H & Chris,
The brass tube that contains the stiker is threaded to take the illum/sound cart? the striker is central so rules out a rimfire(.22") blank for ignition.
Photo and drawing would be great Chris.
