Unknown Wooden Projectile - Please help.

Just received this wooden "projectile". My first obsevations:

Wood looks really old and well dried out. If this is ordnace related then I dont think it is British. There does not seem to be any metal filler (ran the metal detector over it). The wood seems well polished and smooth, no dents and dings.

Weight: 2.7 Kg

Overall length: 315 mm

Diameter: 100 mm

It has been stamped, on five different places: "F SKINNER"

Wooden models of shells were often used by wicker workers to twine wicker covers for shells.
