The exact diameter of the casing's mouth is 11.8mm.

The exact length of the rimmed casing is 53mm.

The length of the cartridge is 70.5mm.

The casing is made from an unknown non ferrous metal.

The projectile is made from lead.

Frankfort Arsenal tinned brass casing 45-70 500gr Rifle I'm pretty sure. Looking at mine that is F over 3 of 91 at this moment. Cheers, Bruce.

Technically it isn't a .45-70 government,the government part apllies to the commercial version of this round and as it is a millitary round it is a 45-70-500 as already stated by Bruce
