Unusual Marking on lid

Hi All, Found this unusual marking on a lid for a C190 liner, the liner has only one other mark stamped into the end panel what looks to be "B P", I presume that this lid was initially for a US Navy box that we acquired and has been reused to complete one of our boxes.

it fits perfectly??. did the US make packing for during the war, the poor unfortunate C190 it came out of was dated 1943.
