Unusual Modified .50 cal Cartridge

It is a blackened dummy cartridge based on the U.S. .50 cal round, headstamped FA 62, with a blind primer pocket. While the overall length is the same as a normal .50, the case itself is 107.7mm long, rather than the usual 99mm. The bullet is .402" in diameter (10.2mm).

I assume this is is some sort of a high velocity experimental but am curious if it was intended for some gun system or just for single shot testing. Can anyone fill in the blanks on this one?
