I recently bought this RAF Cartridge storage tin. I thought it was unusual because it doesn't actually say what the cartridges are for. It's a dark green tin with yellow painted markings as per photo. The base is marked No 471 Mk1 SOTB 12/55.
After some research I found out that the contents would have been "Cartridge Radar Echo Warning 1.5" Mk1" please see photo and scan.

Another one to look for! 1.5" flares are hard to find as it is. At least that container is common so a lid will turn up.

Cartridges filled by SWN - ROF Swynnerton
Tin made by SOTB - Self Opening Tin Box Company (better known for making Hawkin's grenade bodies)
