US Enhanced Tactical Multi-Purpose Grenade

A removable frag sleeve seems like the most likely answer. I can't imagine how else it would be possible. You probably rotate the body away from the "F" and slide it off.

What surprised me in this article is that the Mk3A2 grenade was in service until 1975. I had no idea they were used that late. You rarely see them, even in pictures.

It would certainly be a cheap solution to use a dismountable fragmentation cover along the lines of that used in the experimental T15/T30 series of spherical magnesium bodied grenades but I anticipate something rather more sophisticated, and expensive. Perhaps a dual/bifurcated explosive train is involved, one for each function, but how this might work is presently beyond me.

I destroyed around 20,000 of them in 1000lb. and 2000lb., and 5,000lb. shots for a test in the early 1980. A real PITA to have to open each crate then unpack each crate, checking the safety pin on each grenade while it was in it shipping tube before removing it and then stack it for the shots. They made one heck of a bang.
