US package items? Cone & Ring

Hi all,
Years ago a mate found a cone and a several rings with same diameter on a US artilleryposition in Eifel area.
Amongst others 105mm/155mm package stuff has been found there that time.
Few weeks ago a member of another forum also found such a cone. Earlier this person also found same rings.
Their idea is that the cone is part of ammo package. Till now no decent proof (such as manual or clear picture from WW2 era) for this was found.

Cone:
Outside diameter: 12cm
Inside diameter: 9 cm
Height: 10cm

Ring:
Outside diameter: 12cm
Inside diameter: 9 cm

Someone here able to determinate these parts?

Hi,
I have exactly the same cone for 105mm M67 HEAT (found in Normandy in a stockpile of burried shells 105mm M67).
The cone is placed on the ballistic cap for easy storage.
