Dear US-Subs,

First of all, let me congratulate you for your amazing Bombatorium. I just went through the thread in which you desribe your efforts and I can barely imagine the passion, dedication and patience I took to put all of this together.

I have come across the pics of your Navy 13.65/16" sabot projectiles posted here and it's very rare to find good pictures of these specific projectile.

I happen to have a strong interest in battleships in general and the Iowa class in particular, and I am gathering as much information as possible on this subject.

I was therefore wondering whether you could tell me more about your 13.65/16" sabot projectiles.

More specifically, I'd very much appreciate it if you could tell me :

a) the overall length of this projectile (fuzed and/or unfuzed)

b) the length of the ogive above the bourrelet (fuzed and/or unfuzed)

c) the mass of the projectile (I suppose that the cavity is empty ?)

I already posted these questions in the thread where you posted the pictures initially, but I am not sure you've had a chance to read my post which came at a late stage in the thread.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Meanwhile, kind regards.

Matt.

PS : I tried to post this as a PM, but it wouldn't go through, so I hope it's OK if I post this message as a thread (all the more as others might be interested in the answers).

As I remember reading the post, he doesn't own the projectile. He had a photo of it where he saw it on display.

Hazord is correct. I wish that they were mine, but they belong to a small museum of naval material located in St. Louis. I believe that they were recovered from Crane Depot, but that is not certain. I will check to see if my mailbox is full or not and make some space. Try the PM function again and I can try to put you in touch with the owner.

Jeff, your mailbox might be full. I sent you a message a few days ago with no reply.

Never saw it. I've dumped some e-mails, try again.

@ US-Subs & HAZORD : many thanks for the clarification

@ US-Subs : I sent you a PM, as suggested

Kind regards.

Matt.
