I believe the band was to quieten the ticking of the clocks to interfere with the BD mans efforts to defuze?
Also doubles up as waterproofing.

You got a 17, 17A, 17A* 17B, 17B* and now 17BZ

According to our friend Erhard who has one in his collection there is no details on it but he believes the clock could be run for 2 to 132 mins the same as the (17)Bm but no details known.
