Vietcong stick ??

What are these chi com/vc stick grenades going for as far a price these days? Please advise. Thanks.
Hi Chester, I suppose which VC stick you are looking at, condition, interested bidders and the like would all factor in. The stick that started this thread with the fragmentation body I would feel safe saying in the 250.00US neighborhood. The smooth bodied model I would say just under 100.00US. Rarity and the timing of the market along with condition would factor in. A fair price is always what the market will bear....Dano

Thanks for the reply Dano! The grenade I am looking at is similar to the one that started this thread. Re Frag type. The only differance is, the one I am looking at has a short stick and does not have holes drilled in it. It is all there except for the handle end cap. Condition is above average. It also comes with a 2 pocket vc grenade pouch, and a small NVA flag. The owner is looking for $250.00. I may grab it just to obtain an example of this type. Thanks again for the info!

I hope someone else jumps in here as my knowledge is somewhat limited. But I think the short stick may have cut down after the fact?? Not sure but may want to give it some consideration. The body would definately be better sans the holes as the ones with holes (like mine) are demill. Dano

While rummaging around on the intraweb, I ran across this site: http://www.riverinesailor.com/Weaponry.htm

The "header" pic is a display board of VC RPG, rifle and hand grenades. For those striving for a complete set, you'll now know what to look for.

Rick

I served with a former "river rat". A Gunners Mate, fresh from the war zone. One crazy mofo. Had some issues with U.S. 6th Fleet naval courtesies, such as they were. He left the boat in Barcelona and did not show up for Quarters. Never saw him again. Hope he learned Spanish.

Back to the stick grenades. . .

Just got this and was adding it to the photo album. I have tried to find the proper nomenclature for this particular stick grenade, to no avail. Anybody know where I might find a reference to IDing Chi-com sticks? Were they even officially "Mk'd/MODded" as is/was the custom everywhere else?

While I'm waiting for Mark to find his reference, here's as good a shot of the stamping as I could get.

Rick,

First Off, I have the EXACT same grenade.

They are just called either a Chinese Stick grenade or a VC homemade Jungle version. No Russians that I know of didn't use sticks unless you call the various AT's sticks. Jungle shop made ones were supplied with Chinese detonators initially. They failed quite a lot because they couldn't keep the detonators dry. Their are plenty of VC and Pathe Lao ghosts hanging around the Underworld today to prove it.

Also FYI, the Chinese hated the NVA and it was the other way around too. I should give everybody a list of what countries provided the most support and how much it was back then in American Dollars.

Nowere does it show that these are practice grenades. They were considered live at one time.

Thanks Mark.

I'm just going to list this one as Chi-Com/NVA/VC Stick 'til I hear otherwise.

Rick

I have heard it referred to as a Chicom stick more than any other moniker. It is a sweet grenade Slick. Should fit right in your carrier...Dano

The weird thing about the VC stick that I started this thread with is words carved on handle. It says to Toni from Tom. That got me to thinking that it was weird to give your girl a grenade for a gift. That would compare, say if I bought my wife a "miracle mop" for a Christmas present. I would need to get to the emergency room to have it surgically removed from my rectum!!! Dano

Dano

Roger on the Chicom stick name. I expanded it (NVA/VC) so I might find it after I forget the Chicom part. As "organized" as my pic files are, I still have to remember what I called it to find it in the album.

Rick

Re: the "miracle-mop" issue. I go the gift card route. Verrrrrry safe. And the paper ones are best, for easier "passage", should the amount meet with disapproval.

Dano, I have a US M1917 Trench Knife, that was given as a gift during WWII. Electric-penciled on the scabbard throat is: To Gloria From Eugene "42"
Nothing says love, like a piece of military hardware.

Back in my married days, prior to being "born again" (divorced), I got a shotgun for my wife.

I STILL maintain that was the BEST trade I ever made.

I was married for 13 years, divorced then married another gal and got divorced after 1 year. Then I stayed single for 9 years (lived it up). Been married the last 7 years to the most wonderful woman in the universe. win, lose or draw, I am done....Dano

The two types of Chicom stick grenades that have been posted here, also have a secondary name of "Long Stick" grenades. FYI, I guess.:tinysmile_hmm_t:
