waxed paper phosferous container

Hi All.
I picked this up recently out of idle curiosity. anyone know what its from and what it was used for?
its approx 10cm long and 4 cm in diameter. sealed at one end with a label dated 1937 (see pic) and open at the other end (where its been emptied)

On the label you read RAUCHENTWICKLER ( Free translation SMOKE MAKER ) that means that the container was used for making smoke.
I don`t know where it was used.

These where used as a smoke maker in german projectiles an where filled with red phosphor, for which projectile was used I did'nt find out jet.

these smoke cart were destined to mark the location of explosion in order to allow adjustment of shoots.
