What’s the bottle?

Hello all, I’m looking for some collective wisdom on this item!

I bought it recently as “an old French bottle” but I’m not entirely convinced that it might not be a German poison gas agent bottle like the 7.7cm Clark D bottles floating around online…or is it just a French pickling jar with unfortunate similarities?

This is bigger though, and I can’t find any photos or details of similar bottles for 15cm projectiles.

This is 8cm diameter and 29cm tall, no markings anywhere.

That fastening is weird and not designed to come off in a hurry.

Any ideas? German chemicals or French pickles?

Never rubber seal with the WW1 german gas bottles

But this sort of bottle is old , complete , and not so common for collectors.
