What do I have here?

I would have to guess that it is a part of something. The tip almost looks to be magnesium, and is placed beside a 20mm M51a1 for idea of size.

It goes up to 45 seconds, with only odd numbers stamped.

Looks like the top end of a U.S. Navy time fuze for 5 inch 38, 6 inch 47, and 8 inch 55 High explosive projectiles. Could also fit the 14 inch and 16 inch HE projos, if it had the threaded part.
