bought in a flea market,weight nearly 5 kg,length cm.29,
marked: 39 310 51 m36 IV someone told me to be a target indicator for aerial bombing... any suggestions?

This is a part from a wooden wheel of a pushcarts. The name in german is "Laufbuchse"....i dont no the name in english.

thanks for your suggestion ,I know what do you mean but is not a part of pushcart's wheel,they are similar,but they do not have serial numbers,I am sure they are military stuff.

if it would be an ammunition part I am sure someone would have identified it ;-) I can also support @Rigbys identification these "bearings" show up regularly in german metal detector forums.

The english nomenclature for this object could be "skein". A google image search shows many of them:

Skymarkers for marking aireal targets were made from thin and light sheet metal and not from heavy cast iron.
