What is this?

Greetings,

I'm brand new here and know very little about grenades from the Great War. A friend of mine passed on a few years ago and I have been helping the family identify things in his collection. We are now down to his grenade collection. Mind you, the family doesn't wish to sell these items, but they do want to know what they are.

Most of what he has is easily referenced through sites like this one, but this one item has me stumped. Please see attached photos. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. The third photo is obviously some sort of Kugel, I assume, but I have never seen one of these either.

Hi Samuel.
The gren with wire around it is a 1st world war French Bertrand grenade. It would have had a glass ball inside full of tear gas. the other grenade is a rare 1st world war experimental US Shinkle grenade. have a look at my page on it http://www.paul-spence1964.com/shinkle.html

Thank you for the information! I would never have guessed that that one was a US made piece. Never heard of such a thing.
