Hi
I have been buying a lot of WW1 grenades from the old eastern block
and France in the last few months , do you think one should be carefull
with the post , or am i being paranoid.

Gunsmart777

Yes you should be careful as items coming into the UK are x-rayed as well as those leaving.

Cheers,
Andy

yes, indeed.
be sure that these lousy blackpowder-toys, sent this week from Greek scoundrels by mail all over Europe, will make any honest shipment between honourable collectors much more difficult in the nearer future. :tinysmile_angry2_t:

Yes, agreed. It may become more restrictive and may have more intensive scrutiny of international parcels. Also because of the attempted bomb parcels sent here to US as cargo from yemen recently. This all could hurt collectors like us here on BOCN eventually. Everything is just empty pieces of metal now, but some still "look" dangerous, and paranoia and looking dangerous do not go together to well.

Hi Gunsmart.
Ive been collecting for years and have never had any bother with grens coming in the post from other countries. Ive only had a bit of bother from bidding on ebay and attracting the attention of the e-gestapo who kindly reported me to the law, even though i had done no wrong!:tinysmile_cry_t:
I wouldn't worry too much mate.
Paul.

I use tin foil with cash etc.I saw it on cops, some shop lifters were getting through mall security with it inside there bags.Im sure somebody will straighten me out on this though.I no the screening is getting better.
vinny :tinysmile_classes_t

Modern screening is not just about identifying the outline of an article such as a grenade, but more importantly to determine a) is it filled? and b) if filled, what is the content?
Modern screening systems will react to the "signatures" of a wide range of explosives.
Additionally cargo screening systems will examine vapour densities from sealed packages, once again looking for key "signatures".
Foil screening is of little use and may attract attention for the wrong reasons.
