WW1 Austrian Stick Grenade restoration

Thought I'd post the conclusion of my latest project. While people are of different minds when it comes to a restoration, these were more suitable for the metal recycling than adding to a collection. I had bought 2 Austrian Stick Grenades a few months back with the intention of rebuilding them for my collection. When they arrived, other items had shifted in the box due to poor packing and pretty much destroyed the 2 sticks. After doing some pondering for about a month, got the dremel tool and bondo out as well as some spray foam to provide a base. Sprayed the inside of the can, let it expand and went to work. Used a copper 1" to 3/4" reducing fitting to provide the fixture for the stick (epoxied into the can itself), the bondo to build up the broken areas around the stick fixture and sanded everythong down. The 2 stick brackets were expoxied into place...then prime and paint. I've attached the before and after of the restoration. Hope you like it.

What a great job usa1918. I'm not a big fan of restoring things but when items will otherwise completely fall to bits and be lost then its always worth having a go at saving them (I'm in the middle of a SD2 butterfly bomb project at the moment).
You've done really well there, thanks for showing it.
As for the original packing, well what can I say? I'd imagine you were well annoyed.
Dremel's.......brilliant bits of kit, couldn't do without it.
Dave.
