Straight sided case with screw in primer marked; Fried.Krupp A.G 12 with 3 half moon cutouts.
Base marked:KARLSRUHE PATRONENFABRIK MRZ 1916 12 Sp255
It is for the Krupp field gun, used by Germany, that is also used by the Dutch (called 7-Veld) and the Belgiums. It was introduced in The Netherlands and Belgium just after 1900, not sure when it was made available to the German armies.
