WW2 era Japanese Projectile

Hi Everybody, I'm looking for some help identifying what I believe is a WW2 era Japanese shell of some kind.

It was given to my grandfather by an American GI sometime in the 1940's.

Any help is appreciated.

Looks to be a Japanese Type 100 APT projectile. 20mm.

Have a look in the download section and use the search tool with "Japan".
There is a lot of very interesting books !

The kanji stencilled on your projectile is 緑 (midori) which means Green, thus a green trace.

There would have been another kanji above the green band originally. Without looking it up I don’t know what the other kanji would have been.
