Was just wondering what happened to the remaining stocks of German bombs and fuzes etc after WW2,,did they all get destroyed or did other countries use them ?

Where I live , large amounts of ammo and weapens have been disposed of by dumping them into big ponds , I remember when I was a kid , lived in the neighborhood of a former ammo storage , used by both sides in WW 2 , we went "fishing" at the edges of these ponds , and in summertime when the water level was low , we could simply pick the rounds out of the sand , hundreds , thousands of rounds where brought home by children in the neighborhood , altough it was forbidden , no one ever said a word,
some years ago the bomb disposal team dregged the ponds , amazing quantities of ammo where brought to demolition areas
