WW2 Severely Damaged turret - ship identification help?

I need a little help with a couple of photographs I have, they appear to show a severely damaged ship which I have been unable to identify. Other photos which were with them show scenes of the Mediterranean early war 1940/41 period, however this may not be anything to go on.

The turret has suffered significant damage. I am open to suggestions to the calibre of guns - the door in the foreground may be something to go on?

The second photo also appears to show the same ship but from the 'other'? side. The mast being identifiable in both pictures.

any help suggestions welcome, also on possible cause of such damage.

It appears that the damage done was by demolition charges placed in the magazines as a means of scuttling her - hence the extent of damage shown in the pictures.
