I've a small collection of sectioned WWII German fuzes, which I think were originally sectioned for training/instructional purposes. They ALL have a "U" pre-fix before the fuze number, so my question is; am I right regarding these as 'original' sectioned fuzes; and what was the "U"short for? Pics of one example attached. Trevor.

The "U" as doctor has said stands for practice, It's a really nice cut and would lend itself to be a factory/armourer's section, a nice piece to have in your collection.
Do you have any more sectiond pieces in your collection ?

Sorry for the delay - I've only just emerged from my 'flu sick-bed!
Thanks for the replies and confirmation that these are likely to be pukka Training Cutaways.
I do have a collection of similar fuzes and will photograph them for display over the Xmas break.

A little amendment: U = Unterricht (instruction), b or Ueb = bung (practice)
