If it was a UK land service developmental item its designation would normally start with XL not XM?

Also its designation's developmental/interim modification (version) would normally be 'Ex', or for an in service item, potentially AxEx'. The 'x' in question being a number which denotes the version and/or developmental/interim modification.

Thanks everyone ... I'm not sure how I missed South African. Even the nomenclature makes sense from that perspective.
