A very sad accident. It was bizarre timing on this for me, I took my young adult son out shooting yesterday for the first time since he was a little kid, and saw this on the news when we got home. Fortunately we were shooting out in the open in a valley not far from my house. Gun safety was top priority.
Very sad,but inexcusable I think,
A hot bullet case inside ones shirt, does not excuse failing to keep the gun pointing down range.
Shooters should know better.
Ive had a hot case go inside my sleeve whilst shooting in the prone position, case was ejected from another gun on the range.
You have to keep safety discipline.
Events like this do shooting sports no favours.
Im guessing he was shooting a pistol,as much easier to manouver having a short barrel,if having an automatic reaction.
May be I'm being hard,as he has to live with the consequences of this. But it should not have happened.
Just my thoughts.
Tim.
