Ah!!,is that `spike` at the front of the bomb designed to make the bomb explode above ground for more blast damage??

Yes thats right a bomb that buries itself has less blast effect than one that is slightly above ground .

a complete mint (55)a with switch is rare i have a mint (55)A minus the nose switch this relic is the only example i have.

i also have a nice example of a 55 with no switch.I know what to look for now at shows.

The (55) you have is it the (55)A there is a wire coming out from the shoulder , which connects to the nose switch
