base fuze identity request

You sure it's base? Needle pellet is at the wrong end, unless there is some powder delay train. Looks more like an early nose fuze to me. And very like the usual rifle grenade fuze system, if rather larger.

you could be right Alan1, still remains a mystery to me, I will look through the Grenade books/papers that I have (not many though)
