After having added the last picture this early morning, I realized to have loaded up the 'wrong' one, named with the correct designation of the item.
Oops, the solution was already published by myself in error. :tinysmile_cry_t3:
The item is a so called ‘Abspuler’; a device to reel off ignition wire from the light cable drum.
Reel and drum both were components of the crate "Zndgert 40, tragbar" (portable), used for all smaller electrical blasting.
Dave was up very close, so it's my pleasure to declare him as the winner today.
Thanks for the Hand over Sudelmuk and yes i did cheat but it still took a while to work out the German translation of what this thing was, looking at the first pictures it was the leather thumb brake that really confused me.
Here is my offering, it is British but made up with a German incendiary fin, it measures 2 1/2" at its widest point it is fired from a British Gun,,,,,,, Dave.
You have it Switch, so close Bonnex, this was used by a Home guard unit as thy did not have enough of the rubber bottles for practice firing, the piece of Bickford fuse would would light and produce just enough smoke to mark where it went,,,,,,,, Dave
