BOCN Guess what it is

Hi Dave, the missile was operational in 1967, not longer used in Russia but perhaps still in some other countries. This one is in display at a Czech eod unit.

cheap try.jpgOk, it is a .22 tracer projectle made by Hirtenberger in Austria. Supposedly for subcaliber systems.

Thanks EOD. Is it made out of Brass? Looks like it is from the photo.
Why would they use brass?
Dave.

Dave, yes, it was brass. As it was probably for a subcaliber system the weight and sowith resulting ballistics may be the reason. But knowing our dogooders today it might be also just for being lead free. Unfortunately I have no documentation on this one.

Thanks EOD. Looks like its your turn still, try us with another one. :tinysmile_eyebrow_t

Dave.

I was going to say the top of a 20mm Hispano cannon round but that looks like a weld line along the top..........presumably a little larger than 20mm?

Dave.
