Right ballpark but it is not one of the trip mechanisms.
Interest seems to have dried up on this one. It is a Fuze, Time, No 620; a long-delay fuze utilising the action of Acetone on Celluloid to produce the delay.

Well spotted Spotter! It is indeed a US Manufactured Postwar Clam which I believe dates from the Vietnam war onwards.
