I've recently come across this small rectangular brass data plate and I'm trying to identify it.
It has an RAF Stores Reference stamped on it, 12A/876, along with the King's Crown and other inspection marks. I've included a kidney-shaped RAF bomb data plate for comparison, as the markings look to be from a similar period.
Does anyone know:
- What item 12A/876 refers to?
- Is there a published list of RAF Stores Reference numbers that includes this code?
- Would this plate have been fitted directly to a bomb, or to a component such as a tail unit, fuze/pistol, bomb carrier or other equipment?
- Has anyone seen one of these before?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
