British mouse near Cardiff

I have one that if I leave a bag of waste paper towels and such hanging off of the kitchen counter
gets into it and drags it all to the mouse hole leaving a trail of stuff. I've never seen it, it is trap wise
and I've just given up. This has been going on since last Fall. It first was jamming it all into a drawer
in the counter right under my nose until I discoverd that. I never find droppings, so while I hope it's a mouse
might be somethng else. It once dragged a half baggle off of the counter, so now I have to make sure the drawers are
shut at night so it can't get up and around.

I keep a pair of Wellington boots in my garage. One year I hadn't used them for a few months and then decided it was time for a visit to my favourite beach or to my local bombing range, I forget which. I found a mouse nest in one and several handfuls of seeds (bird food) in the other. The mouse had also shredded the attached cloth liner in each boot to add to the nest. This would have given me blisters so I had to ditch the boots. It seemed a shame to undo the mouse's work but I didn't want it shredding other more useful stuff in the garage.
