Here's a rare beasty, a British WW2 Drill No 74 Mk 2 Grenade, aka "Sticky Bomb" made out of one turned piece of wood, weighted with a steel band folded around the body and fixed with woodscrews. Originally painted white and marked on the side : DRILL No 74 ll . this example has certainly seen life, used for throwing practice rather than damage the instuctional ones made of glass or Bakelite. It looks like this one has been used as a mallet at some stage ! Rare than the empty HE ones, I should think that items like these would be thrown on a fire somewhere once they became obsolete.
