The last of my early British fuzes is the Fuze Percussion, small No 8.
GS fuze threads used in RML 15Pr, 2.5", 7Pr LS & RBL 4" and under.
2 key holes in top for universal key. 2 body holes for the ends of the retaining bolts. The top disc has the firing needle and a copper twisted wire safety pin that is bent over into the groove.
The safety pin eye has a braid loop attached to help withdraw the pin.
Mk 1 approved January 1887.
Mk 11 1890.
Mk 111 1893.
I show two relic fuzes that were dug in Tasmania and metal detected. Poor condition but still examples until I find good ones.
Stamped: R^L 11 and R^L 111 on the unthreaded part near the fuze bottom.
The 8 is the lot number and not for Mk 8 fuze. I show 2 spare top discs.
