The company doesn’t say if the HD7 uses PI (pulse induction) or a different detector technology. Their MD8+ does use high speed PI.

not sure but wouldn't imagine that deep. have tried it with items that I believe are made of different metals and seems to 'detect' all of them indiscriminately.

btw, I have a spare (new, fully working) if anyone is interested...
