Never saw anything like this in the wild so to speak...
I am guessing about 17cm projo?
Guy wanted $500usd but he would probably go to 200. He says he has a mint projo that fits it too.

It was a sidewalk sale so measurement opportunities were limited. Case length maybe 4 feet. Doesn't the head stamp nail it?

Looks like a German WW1 naval case, the numbers on the base would id it. Can you get a proper pic? Some very knowledgeable members on here. I would think 200 dollars US would be a steal! The projectile wouldn't be common either.

Sadly those were the best I could do under the circumstances.
Looking at the basepic using my editing tools I see:

3/Juni 1918/Magdeburg/Sp4C6

I am going to see if I can get some pics of the projo. I at least had the foresight to get the sellers number :)

Whoops! Missed the maker

3/POLTI/Juni 1918/Magdeburg/Sp4C6

sorry about that.

Got these today. Projo diameter is 175mm. Gentleman states it is not original to casing but "it fits".
Length overall is 5'8" (!)
He wants $600 USD for the whole thing.

Try buying such a case and projectile in Australia. Double the price??
The UK and USA prices make me weep as they seem so cheap.

If it was a casing for naval use the month would be in roman numerals

The case is a WWI German naval 170mm case. There are a couple of threads here about them. Quite a few came to the US after the war for some reason. $200 is a good price. Most seem be offered at $400. Projectiles are harder to find. It was separately loaded, so the projectile and case are not the exact same size.

I'd have thought $600 is a good buy for the whole thing, just my opinion though. Depends on how much you want it I suppose.

Dave.
