Hello Clydesmag, I'm new to this too. Hazord's info is spot on, copied from UK ammo & explosives regulations. This fuze and its variants were used with 25 pounder and 5.5" breech loading guns; in smoke and chemical filled `carrier' shell. If I remember correctly the fuze, if set to the highest number of 22, would function 50 seconds after the shell was fired. The 221B variant was still in use in the 1980s. I find examples of the earlier types on my favourite beach, dated between 1937 and 1943. The nose cones are all rotted away now.
