TM 43-0001-38 1994, change 2 1996, page 95 (2-63) says body material is metal, but not what metal.
FM 05-25 and TM 09-1375-213-12 don't give that info.
Hallo,
it seems to be some type of Zink casting with some type of parkerizing treatment, that seems to have been sprayed on from one side. Probably some type of acid. This darkened the surface to a clear brownish shade. At the top, on one side, these lighters have irregular spots where they did not change colour and the naked metal appears.
Regards,
Bellifortis.
I found two in bad condition with rusty metallic release pin and body with a kind of white rust and visible black part. Zink alloy could match with this aging.
