I found this little gem in a lot of Ordnance odds and ends. It is a
very difficult kind to find as is the projectile it goes in, though why
this is I don't know. The projectile M92 is a 37mm subcaliber or
practice round used in converted 1916 37mm Guns. The M92
would have succeeded the M63 type which in turn succeeded
the MKll. All of these were loaded with black powder as a spotting
charge. The M92 shown has an M54 fuze in it. It belonged to the
collector Rick Dial - does anyone know what happened to him,
I knew him some years back, he was going to move and seems
to have disappeared ?
This fuse does not have any markings nor wrench flats as the drawing shows. The drawing also
shows a rather exaggerated primer ! Interestingly enough the design is noted as a Semple
fuze design, we know him better here for his tracers.
