Hi, I picked this anvil up today. I'm told it came from the UK, but it has no date or other markings. Any idea what era is it from? Cheers

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the info. As luck has it, I can offer it a new home. Cheers

Hi Fragman,
If you look carefully at the base of the anvil you will see two circles. inside one of those circles you will find a date of manufacture.
Cheers

Hi. Thanks for your comments. Here's another couple of close-ups. No numbers as far as I can seen. Cheers

Thanks Dave, that's great! You have a nice selection of anvils there. Cheers

A few more for comparison.

Note in the straight sided anvils one brass and one aluminium.

Hi Dave. Thanks! That's a great selection and very useful for reference. Cheers

Interesting Dave. Mills strikers had two points because a single point was the cause of mis-fires.

Possibly from a copy? IRA / Isreali?

John

Hi Dave

I saw one today at W&P and yes I agree WW1. Looking through my notes and pictures I'd say a Belgian grenade. The Roland had a similar anvil so it must be either a Roland or a contemporary from the same period. The Roland had a single spike striker.

It may be from the DBT Grenade.

Looking at the Dunkirk striker on your website I think you've got it.
