ive just about finished renovating an old mills and would like to know what the letter N on a no5 body represents.

I think, but am not sure, that the letters or numbers under the lever were just foundry marks or casting marks and had nothing to do with cataloging a maker
Hello.
For what it might be worth, I have a No5 here with ( on the body, covered by the lever ) a large captial " R " with a small stamped square between the legs of said letter.
If this has any significant meaning I would be most interested to hear of it.
this is the grenade with the N marking .just about finished restoring and distressing this dugup no 5.ive used the leaver spring striker and base plug plus pull ring of the no5 i had destroyed by the EOD .
im quite happy how its turned out
