N90 Fuze series

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what the "N90" series of fuzes is, please? Presumably British, as they fit the 4.5" shell for the Mk.8 gun.

Yes, British Naval proximity fuzes (CVT, VT) made by EMI, Hayes, West London. I worked in the Research Lab there as an electronic engineering apprentice and, under the guidance of the Chief Engineer, designed the self destruct element for the N97.

1 As far as I know Its a Direct Action or a proximity fuze

2 fitted to the 4.5 MK8 round
