Collected this little beauty last weekend, some lovely drop damage and mint untouched condition (see photos) also some lovely stamps and dated 1938 so a nice early one. This Sd50 is known to have been dropped on Eastbourne in Sussex and was displayed in a pub for many years after the war, it could in fact be from a raid where the Luftwaffe hit several pubs in the town of Eastbourne in one night, the press nick named the raid "the pub crawl". Apparently there is a photo of a UXB Sd50 in the doorway of a pub in Eastbourne after this particular raid - could be this very bomb! it would make sense that it was displayed inside the pub after being rendered safe by Bomb Disposal - perhaps in exchange for a pint or two!. Photo was in the Eastbourne at War book published just after the war, hopefully I can track down a copy. Interestingly there is a small gold band painted around the top this maybe from it's days when it was displayed the pub? if anyone has any further info, needless to say I would love to hear from you.
