No 208 I N Fuze

I suspect that the visible threads on the locking ring were mistaken for screwing a cap onto.
it's made for a screw on cap, but doesn't mean one was used. But here is one with a can and is seems not to have threads ?
Mine beside a 206. I guess the answer is if some one does have a 208 marked screw cap then it exisits, it's a Navy thing I guess.

As far as I know the 208 was a land service fuze and was a 207 with an integral magazine. i.e. The 207 used a separate gaine below it (usually a No. 11), but the 208 had this built into the body.
The 206 was a naval fuze with a screw on cap. The naval version of the 208 was the No. 211 but this still just used the standard cover with the rubber sealing ring and the clamp band to keep it on tight. Presumably the 211 was waterproofed to a greater extent for naval use. My 208 is a Mk 3 and 1945 dated. The 211 is also dated 45 but is a Mk I N for naval use. It’s interesting that your 208 has an N stamped on it.
