No.8 engine starter cartridge

Hi all, found this Fragment from a engine starter cartridge a while back. I've found quite a bit of info about No.10 fuses but little about the No.8.

Can anyone say how they differed and what sort of engines mine would have been used for?

This cartridge differs from other British engine starters in that the case doubles as a ‘barrel’. The cartridge contained approx 720 grammes of cordite.

This cartridge was used in the Rotax starter (possibly others) on engines such as Rolls Royce Ghost (dH Venom), Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba (Fairey Gannet) and possibly others.

Your case was manufactured by J.E.S. - J.E. Shay, Kingsclere Road, Basingstoke. Hants.
Primer made by RML - R.O.F. Maltby

Filled by CY - R.O.F. Chorley.
