I believe this is a factory cutaway
i did have to do some work on this,
The original handle was wormed out so i made a new one using the remnants of the original as a template, new ribbons ,repro detonator and safety pin all aged to match the nice overall age patina On the grenade

A really good job there Allan. That sectioned style is the Ministry of Munitions pattern ordered in September 1915 - a period image attached below.
