Many thanks to Eggburt1969 and to sgdbdr (twice) for info on this grenade, little exists on early, ie pre-Great War, grenades, probably because after the iron ball with lit fuze disappeared from British service after about 1870, it took the Russo-Japanese conflict to resurrect the concept.

No idea online, but I did write a technical information and basic historical overview entry for the system I work on. Not available for free I'm sorry to say.
