Todays Toy Cannon; Hand Cranked Spring powered belt fed ~

This one circa 1918 or 1922 has a wooden barrel and cast iron supporting body. It is the most
powerful spring loaded one yet. Add says no powder so it's safe - barely that is !
Modern marketing doesn't hold a candle to the selling of this ~

The real leg is a replacement and I don't have a belt, but it appears that the belt is just a
strip of cloth.

Well inspite of all the jocularity ~ :xd: as deserved ~
It is an awkward toy to use, While it seems that as you crank the belt wraps around a spool fitting and that feeds the projectiles but not too smoothly, then you have to crank and hold the thing still -
Well maybe that's how it got the name, er I digress - A hopper type feed wold have been better. This one had a dowel striker which originally was some kind of spring part.
But all in all it will send the projectile or canister of blue pills a good 15 feet ~ Looks neat anyways -

Is it made from Cast Iron? How much does it weigh?

It weighs I think just over a pound, if it were heavier it would be better, but if the 18" barrel was cast iron
it would have been too heavy -

It is difficult to get a good idea of size from the drawings or photos. What is the barrel length?

I'm thinking could I make one in my workshop and would it be legal? it would be fun to play with and I need to have a project in mind for dull wet days.

barrel is 18 inches, I'll take some detailed images -Well they allowed Lawn darts ----
If you make one, avoid the belt, looks snappy, doesn't work well (maybe better if I had the original stiker unit or belt?)
Use a Gatling type vertical feed instead -

thanks for the picture of it in pieces, I was thinking more Gatling in mechanism and hopper fed.
