Any one know anything about these, marked Dummy. Massive brass. I expect dates around 1939 with these markings.

Hello,
The MK 18 (various Mods 0 - 5) has been used in Navy projectiles of 4, 5, & 6".
All fuzes dated 1943 & later had a zinc made top instead of a brass top. Max. time adjustment - 45 sec. It was used for HE and Illum. projectiles. I large amount of these fuzes have been inerted stamped with dummy and were used on prctice/dummy projectiles later on after WW II. (out of OP 1212, May 1945)
The MK 18 fuzes have been replaced later on by the MK 50 and MK 34

Thanks

So these are fairly common then, odd thing to find up here. Frankford Arsenal did work for the Navy then, I thought it they just did Army work.
